About The Foundation

The Cecile and Philip Johnson Foundation has been created to honor Cecile Ryden Johnson, an internationally known watercolorist, and Philip Arthur Johnson, a respected clergyman and diplomat, who spent their lives promoting understanding and the visual arts in our global community. It supports activities to promote art for the benefit of educational, health and religious institutions and to enhance and humanize the built environment.

In keeping with this mission, the foundation has established an "art for health and wellness" program. The program:

•   Donates and loans fine art and fine art reproductions for the use in healthcare settings and other locations to promote health and wellness, and

•   Accept gifts of fine art originals and related materials and donations that can be made available for these purposes

Please see the Art for Health & Wellness page on this site for additional details and information.

In the future, the Foundation will develop additional program areas consistent with its purposes.  We welcome your suggestions and support.
